Paul’s lifetime of living and working in close collaboration with others defines his process of sharing the hope and joy that positive growth brings. His background in the performing and production arts as a facilitator, mediator, and director were held in high esteem bringing his skills of healing, counseling and restoration into the many relationships and systems that he served.
My approach to treatment could be characterized as a Relational psychoanalytic approach to psychotherapy. Which means that while I’m fully versed in psychodynamic history, concepts, and understanding of object relations and human development, I do so from a relationally oriented perspective. I privilege the safety and security of each client and the relational attachment between client and therapist in setting the pace and direction of treatment.
In treating trauma with Attachment Focused EMDR we find the biggest conflicts happen with those closest to us (family members, co-workers and friends.) But what is “triggered” (out of proportion to the thing itself) is from our distant pasts. Attachment Focused EMDR allows us to “bridge back” from these “triggering” moments to treat these early attachment issues making our current relationships more secure and freeing us from these “past” intrusions.
